성공한 사람들: Success Built to Last by Jerry Porras, Stewart Emery, Mark Thompson

이 책은 "Built to Last"라는  성공한 회사들의 성공비결을 연구한 책이후 경제분야뿐아니라 사회 전반적인 분야에서 성공한 사람들,200여명을 통하여 20년 이상의 성공을 가져다주는 비결이 무엇인지를 찾아본 책이다. 그 주요 내용이 빌트 투 라스트와 너무나 일치하므로 그닥 새로울 게 없는 내용들이었다. 또 글이 전개된 스타일도 그다지 탁월하게 쓰여지지 않아서 좀 지루하게 읽어내려갓다.
성공한 사람의 독특한 삶의 스타일은 make impossible possible이라는 책에서 더 확연히 알 수 있었고 그 두책에서 나오는 내용의 반복이엇다.
그러나 사회 곳곳의 200명의 활동들, 내가 몰랏던 사람들도 있었고 짤막한 몇문장으로 소개되어 다 알 수는 없었지만 흥미로운 삶을 살아간 사람들을 볼 수 도 잇엇던 점에 이 책의 크레딧을 주고 싶다.  그런데 그 점도 좀 더 관심을 쏟도록 더 잘 소개할 수도 잇엇을텐데 싶어서 좀 아쉽다. 저자가 3명이나 되다보니 책이 특색을 잃은 듯한 느낌이다.

이 책은 meaning, thought, action이라는 세분야에서 성공한 사람들의 특성을 보여준다.
meaning에서는 예상한대로 남들이 가져다주는 가치가 아니라 스스로가 안에서 자신에게 의미있다고 생각되어지는 것을 찾는다는 것, 앞의 두 책에서 다 보여준 개념이다.
Thought에서는 긍정적인 사고, 실패를 두려워하지 않고 실패에서 배우고 포기하지 않는 도전 정신, 모든 성공한 사람들이 소유로 행복해지지 않는다고 한다는 것등을 얘기하고 있다.
Action스타일에서는 특별히 액션이라는 카테고리랑 잘 맞지는 않는, 지금까지 나온 얘기들의 반복이 이어졌다.
책 뒤의 유명한 인사들의 명단과 책등이 나오는데 그 부분을 카피해 두엇다.
기회가 되면 전기등을 읽어보고 싶은 사람들이 많앗다.
몇몇 분들의 인터뷰어가 남긴 말들이 인상적이어서, 옮겨본다.

이 사람은 재선에 실패하고 빚더미에 올랏었다고 한다. 그러나 20년후엔가 노벨 평화상을 받는다.

Wheather you are a retard child or live in poverty or have any other defect in life, you can espouse the measurements of success in the eyes of God; justice, peace, humiliyu, service, forgiveness, compassion, love. You don't have to be rich, powerful, famous, healthy, intelligent to demonstrate those characteristics of life."

갓 나온 신형차같은 누구나 갖고 싶어하는 물건을 BSO(bright shiny object)라고 하고 모든 성공한 사람들은 BSO를 소유하는 것에 그닥 가치를 두지 않는데 그 설명이 재밌다.
"A simple way to look at weather BSOs own you-or wheather you own them-is to ask youeself; would you still want that stuff if people who mattered to you didn't care one way or the other? How about if they hated it?"

"I still have a great challenges today with I go into schools to put in my methodology or to work with a school;many of the teachers will not speak to me, or have a very negative attitude, But the attitude isn't about me; it's that they do not believe in their excellence as much as I see that they're excellent. So I have learned to look at that in a different perspective-because I think if you somehow concentrate on the wrongs that have been done to you(the criticism), you will never evolve. Ans if you do not eveolve, you're not growing.
